Hello everyone,
Some of you - those who’ve taken out or been given a complimentary subscription - may have got a mail saying your subscription has ended. Some of you even mailed me asking how they could fix it.
Here’s the big update: Things of Internet is no longer behind a paywall. I’ve decided to make all posts free from now. (the ‘why’ will be outlined in another post, but a one—word reason: Simplification). This was a big decision and I was sitting on it for months, but I’m glad I finally did it. Plus, Stripe being an absolute pain for both payer and writer made the decision easy for me.
So since I got rid of tiers, Substack enthusiastically went out and told all of you that your subscription has ended. Well, it has in a manner of speaking - the previous tier you were on. You are all now of one big tier that will get all the posts I put out.
So what changes for you?
If you were a paid subscriber / lifetime subscriber / I’d given you a complimentary subscription - nothing changes. I will still try to make good on the promise of sending 2-3 posts a month. You may have noticed a shift in the last few months towards more essay-led, long-form kind of writing rather than just curating marketing examples, and that’s a definite shift that will happen. I am up to my ears in things to write about and I’m pretty excited to share them with you.
If you were a free subscriber / lapsed subcriber - well, you’ll get all editions I put out, too.
I have a few other plans as well. Chats, subscriber meetups, interviews… All will happen over the course of the next year :)
So yes anyway, I just thought I would send you this in case you were wondering what happened to your subscription. I’m very much around, and have zero intention of stopping this publication.
Thank you for being around.
Especially those of you who paid me - whether it was one ₹50 monthly, or those beautiful 75 people who paid me for a “lifetime subcription”. More than the money, it was the fact that you were willing to do that, which makes me damn happy. I’ll be in your inboxes soon.
Have a terrific week,
Chuck
Sometimes my procrastination works :) I was to ask you aboutvthat mail from substack last week :D
